Cuddling Weather

With the onset of cuddling weather (i.e. colder weather and longer nights) I have taken to obsessing over knit blankets. They are like sweaters - but better!

So far, my obsession has included drooling over pinterest photos and smooshing knit blankets at Pottery Barn.I may however have to take my obsession a bit further and re-learn how to knit.

Yes, I will be knitting my own throw blanket because spending $100 on one just seems a tad bit extravagant.

Although, I completely understand why someone would. I mean, look at how soft and warm and cuddly that blanket looks!

I think a knit blanket adds the perfect touch of texture and warmth necessary when preparing for winter.

So now I just need to decide on a color. What do you think? A rich brown? A neutral oatmeal? A festive berry red? A deep blue? Olive green?

Oh yeah...and learn how to make a cable knit blanket.

On the Mend and Pinning

via

Once I began feeling well enough to sit up yesterday, I immediately began some passive pinterest surfing.  Without much energy, I simply scrolled and scrolled and scrolled and scrolled until something caught my eye.  Below are the results of my germ-induced pinning.

I was definitely being drawn to soft, calm rooms that had pops of energy and fun in the form of pillows, accessories, and textures. Now that I've migrated from the bed to the couch, I find myself looking around my living room and bedroom finding what I can do to recreate the sense of these inspirational pinterest photos.

Which one is your favorite? I just scrolled through them all again and couldn't choose my favorite...though there are many accessories in each I'd love to get my hands on!

Tree House Daydreams

All my life I've dreamed of having a tree house in my own backyard. Growing up in New Mexico, though, puts a little damper in those dreams because a tree house really can't be built in a tumbleweed.

As an adult, I still find myself searching for tree houses in backyard during our walks and I've asked John to promise to build me our kids one someday.  Here are some plans I'm keeping tucked away for future use.

If John built me something like this, it would be an adult only tree house.  Inside I'd keep a couch, books, and fairy lights.

Would we even need a house if we had this amazing tree house? I think not!

The perfect childhood tree house.

I love this little tree house in the garden. So flowery, cozy, and colorful.

This is a rustic little house - I'd trade the stairs for a ladder and tins connected by string for communicating.

This is just the perfect house - in the trees, river view, windows galore. I'd move my family there in a heartbeat!

This is the ultimate kid's dream. Multi-levels and toms of ladders. There's even a lookout!

The best way to outfit a treehouse is with a hammock and a book. Maybe some cookies thrown in for good measure.

I only wish I lived in this treehouse. Hold on, I have to show this to John and get his commitment he'll build it for me.

Sunflower Inspiration

My mother and I are spending the day exploring the beauty that is North Carolina. We'll be taking a walk through some pretty neighborhoods, visiting some gardens, and soaking in the wonderful flowers that fill every piece of space.

It tends to be a habit for me to fall in love with a location based on it's natural beauty. I snapped this picture to remind me of a cute little Connecticut town I visited a few summers ago.  Isn't it amazing how nature's color pallet is practically perfect? I can picture a sun room decorated in this color scheme.

Here are some other nature-inspired color schemes I found.

Jewels and Baubles and Gemstones...Oh My

Last night as I lay in bed with the intention of writing today's blog post, I found myself drawn to my new best friend...pinterest.  It's a sickness, really, how much I love pinterest.  So, instead of writing about my love of striped walls, how awesome my diy frames are coming along, or my mother's upcoming visit, I found myself enthralled in the world of pretty and sparkly jewelry.

When I awoke this morning, I realized the seduction that had occurred and I had nothing to show for it.  No pretty jewelry, no awesome blog post, not even a restful eight hours of sleep.  So, for today's blogpost, I decided to share my obsessions with you.

I swoon for rough diamonds.

I would never get lost with this beauty hanging around my neck.

 These are my dream.

My wedding bouquet was a bunch of hydrangeas...one of my favorite flowers.

Perhaps I'd name him Albert.

If only I had a birthday coming up.  Or an anniversary.  Or Christmas.  Perhaps I could make up a holiday as an excuse for John to buy me all of these? Oh, and your welcome for sending these beauties your way.

So in Love with Pinterest

My name is Kristen and I'm a pinterest-aholic.  For the past two weeks, I feel as though all my spare time (and not so spare time) has been dedicated to drooling, dreaming, and lusting after the images I find on Pinterest.

Before I share my Pinterest with you, I want you to know I'm not liable for loss of productivity or anything that may come from loss of productivity (my husband has had to pick up the dinner-making slack since pinterest has come into my life).

Are you ready for an amazing world of beautiful pictures, amazing ideas, and jaw-dropping homes? Then enter Pinterest, my dream world.  There is also a link on my sidebar to my page.
